Dr. Nancy Thompson, Principal Investigator, has been a Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education, jointly appointed in Epidemiology and Psychiatry, in the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University since 1983. She is also a licensed, practicing Clinical Psychologist in the State of Georgia. She received her MPH from Emory University and PhD from Georgia State University. Dr. Thompson is principal investigator on Project UPLIFT, a CDC-funded project designed to deliver home-based treatment for depression to people with epilepsy. Prior to her appointment at Emory, she spent 15 years with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) working in areas as diverse as Tuberculosis Control and Alcohol Abuse, and Preparedness. Dr. Thompson has taught courses in the behavioral sciences in public health, including mental health, behavioral theory, behavioral epidemiology, and research methodology courses, both in the United States and in other countries.
