In 2015, the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado started to deliver Project UPLIFT to adults living with epilepsy and depression thanks to a smalll grant from the Epilepsy Foundation and the CDC Epilepsy Program. Developed by Dr. Nancy Thompson at Emory University, Project UPLIFT is an evidence-based program that prevents or treats depression symptoms in people with epilepsy.
Project UPLIFT is delivered over the phone in eight one-hour weekly sessions by a trained mental health professional and a peer with epilepsy. UPLIFT is based on proven principles of mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy.
