Heather Gold, PhD (PD/PI)

Dr. Gold is Professor of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Director of the Section on Value and Effectiveness Research (SOLVE) within the Division of Comparative Effectiveness and Decision science. Dr. Gold is a health economist with expertise in cost-effectiveness analysis and calculation of costs of behavioral interventions. She is a past president of the Society for Medical Decision Making. Her work focuses on determining how socioeconomic, racial and ethnic, geographic, and clinical variations in healthcare affect health and economic outcomes, especially in cancer and orthopedics and in patients with multiple comorbid conditions. She aims to translate her research into policies that encourage appropriate use of healthcare services. Dr. Gold received her PhD in Health Services Research & Policy from the University of Rochester.
